BullGuard

BullGuard features anti-virus protection, firewall protection and backup service. BullGuard's firewall component features Program Control, Behavior Blocker, Cookies and Scripts. All components are accessible via the BullGuard utility.

BullGuard Utility

*Note: BullGuard utility window.

BullGuard Permission Prompt

*Note: Example prompt, displaying information about access attempted.

Options
1. Yes - Allow connection.
2. No - Do not allow connection.

*NOTE: If the check box for 'Remember this answer.' is left unchecked, this prompt will be displayed every time the application is started anew. If the check box is checked, the option chosen will be remembered as the default for that application in the future. This will allow automatic addition of filter rules for individual applications.

BullGuard Programs Feature

Programs feature, access by clicking on 'FIREWALL' in the left menu or by clicking on the firewall icon displayed when the BullGuard utility is first launched, allows you to define default actions for applications attempting to access the network. Your options are as follows:

· Enable Internet Control - When checked, firewall control is active.
· Block All Internet Connections - When checked, all applications are denied when accessing the network.
· Application Internet Access Control - Displays entries for any application that has displayed a prompt and the response included a checked 'Remember this answer.' when submitted.

*Note: BullGuard's Programs window without any entries for Application Internet Access Control.

Example Configuration

Screenshot below illustrates entries for two applications, Internet Explorer and Netscape. In this sample, Internet Explorer is granted access by default, as indicated by check mark next to the applications path and the check mark for the subentry of Allow Internet Access. Netscape however, is denied access by default, as indicated by the lack of a check mark besides the applications path and Allow Internet Access subentry.

Note: If the 'Block All Internet Connections' box was checked, any entries granting access are ignored.

*Note: Sample configuration illustrating a default allow entry and default deny entry.

NetSafe/NetSafe Configuration

Minimal configuration displayed below allows both Internet Explorer and Netscape access to NetSafe and NetSafe Plus. Netscape requires an additional permission to function properly with NetSafe/NetSafe Plus. 'Allow act as server' must be checked as shown below to allow Netscape to function properly.

*Note: Configuration allowing Internet Explorer and Netscape access to NetSafe/NetSafe Plus.
