Configuring Windows XP For Knology Dial-Up

| 1. | To make a new Dial Up connection with Windows XP, click on the Start button and select Control Panel from the menu. |
| A. If the Control Panel is using the Category View, click on 'Network and Internet Connections' and then select 'Network Connections' under 'Control Panel Icons'.
B. If the Control Panel is using Classic View, then click on the 'Network Connections' icon in the window. |
| 3. | Click 'Next' on the welcome screen of the New Connection Wizard. |
| 4. | Select 'Connect to the Internet' and click 'Next'. |
| 5. | Select "Set up my connection manually" and click 'Next'. |
| 6. | Select "Connect using dial-up modem" and click 'Next'. |
| 7. | Enter the ISP name 'Knology Dial Up' and click 'Next'. |
| 8. | Enter the area code and phone number of your Knology Dial Up and click 'Next'. |
| 9. | Type your Knology Dial Up username and password. Uncheck 'Make this my default Internet connection' and click 'Next'. |
| 10. | Check 'Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop' and click 'Finish'. |
| 11. | Dial Up networking is now complete. |

Configuring Windows 2000 For Knology Dial-Up
- To make a new Dial Up connection with Windows 2000 right click on My Network Places, and click 'Properties' under the pop-up menu.
- Double-click "Make A New Connection." You will be directed to the "Network Connection Wizard." Click 'Next.'
- Choose "Dial-up to the Internet" and click 'Next.'
- Select "I Want To Set Up My Internet Connection Manually", or "I Want To Connect through a Local Area Network" and click "Next."
- Select "I Connect Through A Phone Line And Modem" and click 'Next.'
- Select the dial-up modem that you will be using and click 'Next.'
- Enter the area code and phone number of your Knology Dial Up. Choose the correct country and region (United States). Click 'Next.'
- Type your Knology Dial Up username and password and click 'Next.'
- Name your connection 'Knology Dial Up' and click 'Next.'
- Select 'No' on the "Do You Want To Set Up An Internet Mail Account Now?" window and click 'Next.'
- Click 'Finish.'
- Dial Up networking is now complete.

Configuring Windows NT For Knology Dial-Up
- Double-click the 'My Computer' icon.
- Double-click 'Dial-Up Networking'.
- Click New.
- If you get a message indicating that your 'Phonebook' is empty, click OK to add a new entry.
- Name this dial-up session 'Knology Dialup' and click 'Next.'
- Select 'I Am Calling The Internet' and 'Send My Plain Text Password.' Click 'Next.'
- Type 364-9821 for the phone number.
- Click 'Next' and then click 'Finish'.

| Connecting To Knology Dial-up With NT 4.0 |
- Double-click 'My Computer.'
- Double-click 'Dial-Up Networking.'
- Choose "Knology Dialup" from the Phonebook.
- Click Dial.
- Type in your assigned dial-up username and password. Do not enter the Domain Name.
- Click OK.
- A dialing status window will appear.
- Once connected, "Dial-Up Networking Monitor" should appear on the taskbar. If it doesn't appear, click Start > Settings > Control Panel > and choose "Dial-Up Monitor" to place it on the taskbar.

Configuring iMac For Knology Dial-Up
- Locate the 'Assistants' folder on your hard drive, open it, and double-click on the 'Internet Setup Assistant' icon.
- Click the 'Yes' button.
- The 'Welcome' window will appear along with the message "Would you like to set up your iMac to use the Internet?" Choose 'Yes.'
- On the 'Internet Account' window you will see "Do you already have an Internet account?" Choose 'Yes.'
- The 'Introduction' window will appear. Click the right arrow to continue.
- The 'Configuration Name and Connection Type' window will appear along with the message 'What would you like to name this configuration?' Type in 'Knology Dial Up.'
- How will you be connecting to the Internet? Choose the 'Modem' option.
- The 'Modem Settings" window appears and asks "Which modem are you using?" Choose "iMac internal 56k" or whichever type of dial-up modem you have. Also, enter the following:
'Which port' -> Internal Modem
'Tone' or 'dial' -> Tone
'Ignore dial tone' -> Leave this unchecked
Configuration Information: 'What is the phone number' -> Type in your local Knology Dial Up number: 364-9821
'What name do you use with this service' -> Enter your Knology Dial Up user ID. (Ex. If your email address is johndoe@knology.net, you would enter only johndoe
'What is your password' -> Enter your Knology Dial Up password. (You may check the 'Save Password' box.)
PPP Connect Script: 'Does your ISP require a PPP Connect Script' -> No
IP Address: 'Is there an IP address...?' -> Choose 'No.'
Domain Name Servers: 'What is the DNS address?' Leave this blank.
'What is the domain name...?' -> Leave this blank.
E-mail addresses and password: 'What is the e-mail address...?' (Ex. johndoe@knology.net)
'What is the e-mail password?' Enter your e-mail password.
'What is the quoting character?' >
E-mail account: 'What is the e-mail account?' (Ex: johndoe@knology.net)
'What is the e-mail host?' Enter smtp.knology.net
'What is the newsgroup host?' Leave this blank.
'Do you use proxy servers?' No
You can unclick the 'Connect When Finished' box before clicking 'Go Ahead' if you do not want to connect right away.
