Setting up Email
Configuring MAC Mail
E-mail Program Configuration
| 1. | Open the MAC Mail program and choose 'Mail' then 'Preferences' |
| 2. | Click 'Accounts' and then 'Add Account' |
| 3. | Fill in your account information:
- for 'Account Type' choose POP
- type a description of the account (such as 'Knology' or 'My Email')
- type your Knology e-mail address
- type your name as you want it to appear on the e-mail you send
- for 'Incoming Mail Server' type in pop3.knology.net
- for 'User Name' type in the first part of your e-mail address
- type in your password
- for 'Outgoing Mail Server' choose smtp.knology.net |
| 4. | Click 'OK' |
| 5. | Close the 'Accounts' window |
Creating a Basic Rule
For example, if you wanted to create a rule that would send all email labeled as spam to the deleted folder
| 1. | Open Mail and choose 'Mail' then 'Preferences' |
| 2. | Click 'Rules' and then 'Add Rule' |
| 3. | Set up the rule's criteria
- for 'Description' you could name it SPAM
- under 'Criteria' you could select
'Subject' -> 'contains' -> SPAM
- under 'Action' you could then check 'Delete the Message' |
| 4. | Click 'OK' |
